How to Motivate Yourself to Run in the Cold

I’ll be one hundred percent honest, this week I used the “it’s too cold to run” excuse every single day. Well, except for today; even though it was kind of still too cold to be doing anything but watching Netflix in bed with 20 blankets.

Usually the cold temperatures really don’t bother me that badly. If you have the right gear, running in winter weather can be comfortable. But for some reason this week I just couldn’t get around that whine-y voice in my head that kept reminding me how much warmer and cozier it was inside.

How to Make Fitness Fun and Stay Motivated to Exercise + A Fun Fit Bodyweight Workout

The following post is sponsored by Fitfluential on behalf of Puma.

Finding the fun in fitness isn’t an easy thing to do, but it’s absolutely possible and something that I want to inspire everyone to do. I encourage others to find exercises that they love, activities and sports that will continue to keep them coming back for more on a daily basis. That way, keeping up an exercise routine feels less like a chore that you have to force yourself to do and more like a fun hobby that you look forward to.

Hungry Running Recap: Oakley Mini 10K

To be honest, I was a little nervous about this race. Sure, I’ve run plenty of 10k races before, but never just after recovering from an injury. Never just after having taken a three-week break from running. Even though I had successfully run a few short, pain-free runs in the week leading up to the race, I was still nervous that I would agitate my hip and that my injury might return.

I have good news. And even though I’m the only person who will be directly effected by this uplifting turn of events, I figured you all might still want to hear about it anyway.

Do you want to hear? OK. I’ll spill.

I can run again! (If you follow me on Instagram, you may already know this. Don’t you feel cool?)

Expanding My Workout Wardrobe with C9 by Champion + a $50 Target Gift Card Giveaway {Closed}

This post is sponsored by Target.

Oh guys, I am becoming an activewear junkie. It’s bad. I think I can now safely say that more than half of my wardrobe is made up of spandex and sports bras.

Actually, why did I say “it’s bad”? I see it as a good thing. After all, it is what I wear to work everyday and I kind of hate wearing jeans anyway. It’s good. It’s definitely good.

This weekend, my workout wardrobe expanded even further after I made a special trip to Target. Or as my mom would say in a fake french accent, “Tar-jay.”

I was extra, super excited when Target reached out to ask if I’d like to write about their C9 by Champion line because to me, Target feels like home. And I know that sounds like an extremely cliche and almost stupid statement, but shush, let me further explain.

Hungry Running Recap: Every Day is a Vacation, And I’m Taking a Long One

I’ll start with the bad news first. And don’t worry, when I say “I’m taking a long vacation,” I don’t mean from blogging. I mean from running. Not because I want to, but because I have to.

Unfortunately I’ve sustained myself another nice little injury. Last year it was my left hamstring. Now it’s my right hip flexor. It could be a labral tear (let’s pray not!), or it could just be a groin strain. Either way, I need to rest. Probably for at least three weeks. (Kill me now!)

The pain in my right hip started just after I ran the Fitness Magazine Half-Marathon. Three days after the race I went out for an 11-mile run and unfortunately that was just too much, too soon. After that I rested for about a week until I felt OK again. But even though I felt OK on my first run back, there were still some small twinges of pain, a sign that I wasn’t fully recovered. Stubbornly (just like last time), I chose to ignore that, simply because I love to run, and now, as a result, I can’t. Oh the irony.
