Banana-Berry Protein Smoothie Recipe

I am almost always on the hunt for new sources of protein, and especially kinds that, a) you can easily take on the go and b) don’t come along with a whole bunch of added sugar.

So when I was offered the opportunity to test out some of the new protein products from About Time, I was excited to find out that they meet these two very important requirements.

Of particular interest to me was their new ProHydrate Protein Water, which I got to try in both the Raspberry Lemonade and Orange Mango Flavors.

If you’re like, “Protein water… What the?” Trust me, I get your skepticism. I was very curious about how it would taste at first, too. But after a few sips I was totally won over—especially with the raspberry lemonade flavor.

Yes, it’s a tiny bit “chalky.” But after a few sips, it’s hardly noticeable and honestly, there isn’t a protein product out there I’ve tried that didn’t have a slightly chalky consistency to it, so in my opinion it just comes with the territory.

What I like most about the ProHydrate bottles, though, is that they are single-serving and effortlessly portable. No assembly required. You essentially have a protein shake, but you don’t have to add water or worry about carrying around a shaker bottle. All you have to do is twist the cap open and drink.

You guys know me, easy and simple are my middle names, so for me personally, it can’t get much better than that when it comes to a post-workout snack.

I also got to try the About Time Chocolate Chip Whey Protein Pancake Mix (results pictured above), and with that I was also thoroughly impressed. These require a little more assembly, but not by much.

Just add water or milk, stir, cook and then serve.

And then, there were the individual whey protein packets. Those I used to experiment with some smoothie recipes, like the Banana Berry Protein Smoothie recipe I’ve shared below. Just like everything else I’ve talked about today, it’s super simple to make.

There are only three ingredients, but oh boy, those three ingredients fuse together to make a truly harmonious blend of delectable flavors. (Note: The cinnamon swirl flavor whey protein is pictured above, which could also work in this recipe, but I used the banana flavor, which I prefer and highly recommend.)

Seriously, without further ado…Here is the banana-berry protein smoothie recipe you’ve been waiting for. (Promise me you won’t be shocked at how easy it is!)

-Banana-Berry Protein Smoothie Recipe-

Ingredients:

1 cup frozen mixed berries (mine was a blend of blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries, but any sort of berries will work fine)

3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1 single-serving packet of About Time whey protein isolate, banana flavor

Directions:

1) Toss everything into a blender, blend and then serve. (Seriously, it’s that easy. You’re done. Enjoy!)
